Appraisal and synthesis (EBP step 3): Through the evidence appraisal and synthesis I discovered that there is not a lot of quantitative research on the effects that exercise has on the occupational stress of nurses. There was a lot of research on the coping strategies used by nurses and the warriors they face from participating in their coping strategies, but not a lot of research that focuses on the physical exercise itself. During the process, my assumptions did not change about the topic. From the research that we found, I believe that exercise can help decrease the occupation stress of nurses. I believe that more research needs to be done on the topic, but I believe the research that has been conducted is a good starting point. In my future nursing practice, I believe that I will try to stay active and have a regular exercise program to help decrease the amount of occupational stress I may be experiencing. Finally, my team members and I arrived at the same conclusions about the findings. We all believed that more quantitative research needs to be done to have a stronger base of knowledge about the topic. If more research is done, it could be applied to other occupations that experience high levels of occupational stress, not only the nursing profession.
