During the ATI Fundamentals Assessment, overall I think it went very well. I knew most of the information that was on the assessment and only recalled a few pieces of information incorrectly. However, I do need to improve on a few things. I took way too long to think about each question and to answer it. In the future, I need to not second guess myself when reading a question and I need to go with my gut when I first read all of the options. Secondly, I need to not change my answers. On multiple occasions I changed my answer and it turned out to be correct the first time. Finally, I need to read all of the options thoroughly. I would read through some of the questions too fast or I would not read the answers correctly and that would lead me to think longer about the question than I needed too. I think if I can improve upon these things, my test taking will be greatly improved.
John, you have great insight into testing practices that didn’t serve you well – this will help you make adjustments on future adaptive exams and, subsequently, NCLEX.
